MICHAEL GALVAN, 29, HIS FATHER, FRANK GALVAN, both of Farwell, and Clovis friends Mark Call, John Jones and Richard Ryerson wanted to help tornado victims.
Their mission was “to help local families right now,” so they wouldn’t have to wait to receive government or insurance assistance, according to Michael Galvan.
They decided to have a bike rally and raised $4,265 that benefited five local families.
They held the fund-raiser in the younger Galvan’s back yard.
“It was big enough to hold about 250 people,” he said, and there was room enough for about 200 motorcycles.
The Galvans, Call, Jones and Ryerson provided food and games.

Legion Riders of Clovis donated $1,200, he said.
The younger Galvan, who works at Alltel in Clovis, said the original plan was to help four families.
“THE DAY OF THE RALLY, we asked people to put names in the hat,” he said. They selected the four families who would benefit, he explained.
But when they learned about the plight of one family unable to receive federal help, Galvan said they changed course.
“THEY HAD LOST THEIR ENTIRE HOUSE,” he said.
He said he and his buddies and dad saw they had “more than enough money,” he said.
Four Clovis families and one from Bovina each received $853, Michael Galvan said.
