Air Force grounds ex-flight attendant

W elcome to the first edition of Cannon Connections. This publication is meant to provide military families with news that pertains to them. Inside you will find a community calendar, a local feature story and kids’ pages.

Allow me to introduce myself.

I am coordinator of Cannon Connections, Air Force wife and proud parent, but not necessarily in that order. I am often sleep deprived and I believe a cute pair of shoes can make the day

better.

In the course of my 37 years on this Earth, I have lived in many places. I grew up in a tiny town nestled near a beautiful lake in Texas and I attended college in Austin.

“Hook ’em Horns.”

I have also lived on both U.S. coasts and too many places in between to mention.

My previous career as a flight attendant and my unquenchable thirst for change were the main reasons for my relocations through the years.

However, my days of moving on a whim came to an end when I married into the Air Force. I now live wherever the military tells me, which is currently Clovis.

Like any military spouse, I live my day-to-day life in uncertainty. Will my husband get deployed? Will we get orders soon?

My husband, who recently earned his master sergeant stripe, is a proud

member of the 27th Fighter Wing at Cannon Air Force Base. I’m not sure exactly what role he plays on base but I know it involves riding around in a truck on the flight line. I’m sure it’s a lot more complicated than just sitting in a truck and talking gibberish into a two-way radio, but every time I ask him for details he says, “If I tell you then I’ll have to kill you.”

Together we have four beautiful children ranging in age from 16 to 1 years old. The oldest three are boys and their interests are eating, sleeping and avoiding chores. The baby is a girl with the bluest eyes you have ever seen. (She gets this from her daddy). Her interests include chewing on remotes, seeing how long she can stay awake and growing hair (she hasn’t proven to be successful on this one yet).

My family has been based at Cannon for the last couple of years and Clovis has been good to us. Like any town, I have things I adore about Clovis and things I abhor as well.
