A tractor-trailer accident early Friday morning near St. Vrain resulted in the drug-related arrest of a Salt Lake City man, according to state police.
Around 4 a.m. a tractor-trailer carrying frozen french fries traveling east on Highway 60/84 overturned and caught fire, state police officer Lance Bateman said.
The driver, Hank Breitenbugher, 41, told police he swerved to avoid a deer and lost control, Bateman said.
While working to subdue the fire, workers discovered a small case containing one gram of methamphetamine and paraphernalia, Bateman said.
Breitenbugher, who had refused medical attention and left the scene, was later located by police and charged with possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia, Bateman said.
Breitenbugher was driving the fries to Dallas but because of thawing the load was spoiled, Bateman reported.
