Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Passage of Bond A seems likely

With 54 percent of precincts reporting on Tuesday, 61 percent of New Mexico voters favored providing $16 million to benefit senior citizen centers across the state.

Bond A would fund projects at dozens of senior centers, including some in Curry, Roosevelt and Quay counties.

Portales’ senior center had the most to gain, with $120,026 tagged for “improvements, including purchase and installation of equipment,” according to the secretary of state’s Web site.

In Curry County, $10,000 would go to improvements at the Grady senior center and $10,000 would benefit the Melrose senior center.

In Quay County, $30,000 would go to improvements at the Nara Visa Senior Citizen and $41,400 to other senior programs in the county.
