SAN ANGELO, Texas — Senior forwards Kara Henderson and Megan Dozier scored goals and junior goalkeeper Stephanie Sanchez notched seven saves on Sunday, helping Eastern New Mexico University edge Angelo State 2-1 in a Lone Star Conference women’s soccer match.
Henderson took a pass from freshman forward Kimberley Anaya and found the back of the net just over three minutes into the contest. Dozier added her team-leading fifth goal with just under 26 minutes left for a 2-0 lead.
Four of Dozier’s goals have been game-winners for the Zias (5-5, 1-2 LSC).
Ashley Tatum put the Rambelles (6-3-1, 1-2-1) on the board about two minutes later, but Sanchez and the ENMU defense held Angelo off the board the rest of the way to preserve the win.
The Zias, who have played six consecutive road matches, return to the ENMU pitch for a 4 p.m. match Thursday against Dixie State College of St. George, Utah.
