FARMINGTON — Clovis MainStreet was honored at the New Mexico MainStreet Summer Institute in Farmington with three awards and national accreditation, according to news releases from the New Mexico Economic Development Department, which sponsors New Mexico MainStreet.
Clovis MainStreet received awards for Excellence in Fundraising— for the Clovis Downtown Cultural Arts Fest wine and cheese gala — and Excellence in Urban Design and Planning, for adopting a Metropolitan Redevelopment Area in downtown Clovis.
New Mexico MainStreet honored Clovis MainStreet President Zala Smith with the Community Award, citing her long-term dedication to the organization.
Clovis was one of 12 New Mexico communities bestowed accreditation this year by the National Trust Main Street Center of Washington, D.C. The certification is based on 10 benchmarks including communitywide support and vision.
“This accreditation represents years of dedicated work on behalf of Clovis MainStreet and the community of Clovis,” said Robyne Beaubien, Clovis MainStreet executive director, in a New Mexico Economic Development Department news release. “Our organization is dedicated to making downtown Clovis a great place to live, work, and play, and it’s so gratifying that the community has embraced that along with us.”
New Mexico MainStreet is the local affiliate of the National Trust Main Street Center, which seeks to bring vitality to city centers across the country.
New Mexico communities that also received accreditation this year were: Artesia, Bernalillo, Carlsbad, Corrales, Farmington, Hobbs, Las Cruces, Los Alamos, Portales, Roswell and Silver City.
“National accreditation speaks highly of the quality of our local programs,” said Rich Williams, director of New Mexico MainStreet. “Clovis MainStreet is one of 12 local groups who deserve to be congratulated for a job well done.”
