Monica Lucero Chavez, 90, of Turlock, Calif., died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at her home.

She was born Feb. 1, 1916, in Juan de Dios, Mexico, and lived in Turlock for 52 years. She was a homemaker and member of the Sacred Catholic Heart Church. Family members said she enjoyed raising her children.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reynaldo Chavez; a grandson, John Hernandez; and a granddaughter, Martha Johnson.

She is survived by 10 children, Margaret Godinez of Richmond, Calif.; Jose Manuel Chavez of Ceres, Calif.; Helen Ishihara, Gilbert Chavez, Elizabeth Morales and Rose Chavez, all of Turlock, Reynaldo Chavez Jr. of Modesto, Calif.; Victor Chavez of Omaha, Neb.; Frances Frunz of Patterson, Calif.; and Terry Chavez-Povich of Counsel Bluffs, Iowa; two sisters, Maxie Hidalgo and Ofella Rubio, both of Clovis; 30 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and 19 great great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (PDT) Sunday at Allen Mortuary of Turlock. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. (PDT) Sunday at Allen Mortuary of Turlock.

Burial is Monday at Turlock Memorial Park.

Arrangements are by Allen Mortuary of Turlock.
