PORTALES — Local police conducted drug-bust operations on Thursday night, which led to the arrests of six individuals, Portales Police Capt. Lonnie Berry said.
Berry said Portales police officers worked with deputies from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Department on drug raids, which began shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday.
“Most of the narcotics recovered were meth (and) crack cocaine,” Berry said. “We received information on street dealers. By combining efforts, we were able to conduct a good operation. The freshness of the information is very important.”
By 9 p.m., police officers conducted the operation at three locations and recovered a couple of grams of methamphetamine, marijuana and stolen property, officials said.
Berry said deputies, police officers and probation officers began putting together the joint operation at the start of the week. Berry said officers have been able to collect evidence throughout the week and put together search warrants.
Arrest reports were unavailable at press time.
