HEREFORD — Clovis High athletes scored in four finals on Friday on the first day of the Hereford Invitational track meet.
The girls came away with 14 points, including a fourth-place finish in the 3,200 relay with Vanessa Croke, Nicole Russell, Nicole Johnson and Lula Hita running a time of 12 minutes, 19.25 seconds.
Other points for the Lady Wildcats came from Kim Perkins, third in triple jump at 33 feet, 1 1/2 inches, and from Hali Weekly, who finished in a three-way tie for third in poloe vault at 7-6.
Perkins also posted the best qualifying times of the day in the 100 (16.6 seconds) and 300 hurdles (48.68), while Nicole Robles advanced to the finals in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.54 seconds.
Other finals today for the Lady Cats will be in the 400, 800 and 1,600 relays; the 800 and 1,600 runs; discus; high jump, and long jump.
The boys picked up eight points when sophomore Manuel Robles finished second at 21-8, a state-qualifying distance.
Finals today for the boys include Brian Mead and Zac Gerson in the 100 hurdles, Mead and Diondre Hunter in the 300 hurdles, Robles and Colt Marin in the 100, Marin in the 200 and Tanner Fickling in the 400, as well as the 800 and 1,600 relays
