Isabel Hernandez, 88, of Portales died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at his home.
He was born Nov. 5, 1917, in Terlingua, Texas, to Concepcion Hernandez and Ernesto Jacobo.
He grew up and attended school in Mexico. He came to the U.S. as a young man and worked in agriculture throughout West Texas. He moved to Portales 22 years ago when he retired.
Family members said he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings; and his wife of 53 years, Margarita Hernandez, who died in 2002.
He is survived by two sons; Roberto Jacobo of Portales and Luis Armader (and wife, Vicky) of Portales; four daughters; Flora (Ezeqiel) Reyes of Friona, Maria Coronado of Portales, Ramona Simental (Jose) of Portales and Laura Gonzales (Cruz) of Portales; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Father James McGowan will officiate services.
A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at St. Helen Catholic Church.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
