George J. Sena Jr., 39, of Fort Sumner, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Plains Regional Medical Center following a long illness.
He was born Oct. 30, 1966, in Fort Sumner to George and Gloria (Maes) Sena.
He attended school in Fort Sumner. He suffered from Osteo Malatia and Renal Tubular Acidosis all his life but never let his illness get in the way of his great sense of humor and his love for his family and friends, family members said.
Family members also said he loved to draw — making birthday cards for his family — enjoyed reading about political history, watching wrestling and spending time with his aunt Theresa, and reading his Bible.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Reymundo and Inez Sena and his maternal grandparents, Juan and Emelia Maes.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Tomas Sena (and wife, Glenda) of Fort Sumner; a nephew, Tomas Sena Jr; nine aunts, Theresa Maes, Ellen Lopez, Ricki Guana, Viola Gutierrez, Celina Lopez, Benerita Roybal, Manuela Nieto, Odilia Marrujo and Vicki Salguero; and three uncles, Dionisio Maes, Eloy Sena and Daniel Sena.
A Rosary service will be held 7 p.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Father Sotero A. Sena will officiate services.
Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Leonard Maestas, Bobby Sena, Oscar Arroyos, Danny Zamora, David Lopez, Peter Madero, Bill Rives and Aurelio Lopez.
Visitation hours will be held from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner.
