Mary Stapleton

Services: 10 a.m. (CDT) Wednesday at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel in Lubbock, Texas.

Mary F. Stapleton, 82, of Lubbock died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005.

She was born on Sept. 10, 1922, in Woodson to Patrick and Lela Jernigan.

She married Joe R. Stapleton on March 8, 1942, in Lubbock. Joe and Mary owned the Holiday Mart and Adobe Apartments, where Mary took care of the bookkeeping.

She was a member of Greenlawn Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by three children, Sharon Hicks (husband Don) of Clovis, Don J. Stapleton (Amba) of Nosara, Costa Rica, and Cynthia K. (William E.) Flynt of Fort Worth; four grandchildren, Todd Alan Hicks and Cory Lucero of Clovis, Tammy Renee Wagner of Dallas, and Jonathan Stapleton of Nosara, Costa Rica; two great grandchildren, Blake Alan Hicks and Garrett Austin Hicks, both of Clovis; one sister, Nell Cain of Fort Worth and many nieces and nephews.

Pat Sheaffer will officiate services.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home, 5740 W. 19th St. in Lubbock.

Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock.
