Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
At 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, police went to the intersection of Sunland and Sandia drives in response to a call stating that a vehicle collided with a child on a bike. The report said the driver told police he was going 15 mph in the school zone. He said, as he approached the intersection, a child on a bike struck the right side of his car before he had time to react.
The 7-year-old bicyclist told police that she couldn’t remember what happened. She was treated by EMS at the scene for minor injuries. Her mother took her home afterward. A witness told police she saw the bicyclist “crash into” the vehicle. The officer determined that the bicyclist was heading north on Sunland in the south-bound lane, and failed to yield to the vehicle. The vehicle’s front headlight was broken in the collision. There was also a large scratch on the hood and a dent on the fender.

At 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday a Clovis police officer responded to the Curry County Adult Detention Center to serve an arrest warrant on a 25-year-old man whose bond was revoked for failing to appear in court. He was arrested by a bondsman, according to Curry County Adult Detention Center officials. The man had originally been released from detention on a $5,000 cash bond on charges of possessing a controlled substance, possessing marijuana and driving without insurance. The officer also served the man with a new charge of contempt of court carrying with it a $1,100 cash-only bond.

At 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday police responded to a call from a man who said a cat attacked him on the porch of his home on the 1800 Block of Wallace St., according to the police report. The 43-year-old man told police he left his front door open when he went outside to get his mail, and a domestic short-haired, gray-and-white cat ran into his house. The man told police that when he tried to remove the cat from his home, the cat bit his left hand near his thumb, and scratched his hands and legs. The man told police he didn’t know who the owner of the cat was. A copy of the police report was forwarded to animal control.

At 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, a woman called police saying her vehicle was stolen from the front of her residence on the 2300 block of Happy Lane. At 1:17 a.m. Friday, officers stopped the stolen vehicle on the 1100 block of Prince St. and observed a Hispanic male in a white shirt, khaki pants and no shoes get out of the car and run west through a residential neighborhood. Officers could not locate the suspect, and returned the vehicle to the owner.
