Cannon, Arizona bases finalists for award

Cannon Air Force Base and the Davis-Mothan Air Force Base in Tucson, Ariz., are the finalists for the Commander-in-Chief’s Installation Excellence Award for Air Combat Command, according to Capt. Andre Kok, of Cannon’s public affairs.

The award recognizes efforts of airmen at Department of Defense installations who have most efficiently used their resources to support the mission, according to Kok.

Cannon earned the award last year, Kok said.

Clovis, Portales receiving money for main streets

Clovis and Portales will receive state money to aesthetically enhance main street areas, according to a press release from the New Mexico Department of Economic Development.

Clovis was awarded $200,000 to install pillars and landscaping at the intersection of Main Street and U.S. 60-84, the release said.

Portales was awarded $110,000 to construct downtown sidewalks, lighting and landscaping, according to the release.

Private sector investment into these beautification projects will match every dollar of State funding at a rate of 33 percent, the release said.
