Three adults, one teen indicted in shooting

Three Clovis adults and a teen were indicted by a grand jury Friday for murder in connection with the shooting death of 10-year-old Carlos Perez, according to a press release from the Ninth Judicial District Attorney’s office

Orlando Salas, 15, Demetrio Salas, 19, Edward Salas, 21, and Noe Torres, 26, were also indicted for allegedly trying to kill Perez’ older brother, Ruben Perez, the release said.

All four face life in prison if convicted of the Sept. 15 shooting.

Carlos Perez was sleeping in his bed next to his brother Ruben when he was struck in the head by a bullet, according to police. He died later that day.

The adult Salas brothers are being held in the Curry County Detention Center and will be arraigned within 10 days, the release said. Orlando Salas, 15, is being held in a juvenile detention center, but he will be tried as an adult, the release said.

Edward Salas is being held without bond and Demetrio Salas is being held on $100,000 cash bond, according to jail officials.

Torres remains at large.
