Club Notes

Friendship Rebekah Lodge

Friendship Rebekah Lodge met Sept. 27 for its regular business meeting.

Vice Grand Serena Goar led the group in the re-obligation ceremony.

The officers for next year were elected. Serena Goar was elected noble grand. Mary Dorris was elected vice grand. Evelyn Calder will serve as secretary/treasurer and Mary Dorris will serve as third-year trustee. They will be installed the first week of January.

After the meeting, the members enjoyed old-fashioned root beer floats and conversation.

The next meeting will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Oddfellow Hall. Allene Luther will give her report as club representative at the Rebekah assembly in Las Cruces.

Birthdays

Saxton

She has seven children, 25 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.Harvie Downs Saxton will celebrate her 100th birthday on Saturday with a come-and-go reception from 2 to 5 p.m. at 464 Roosevelt Rd. in Portales. Her daughters, Geraldine Burch and Lavern Russell, will host the celebration. Saxton was born Oct. 14, 1905, near Vinson, Okla. She has three daughters, seven grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Friends and relatives are invited to the celebration.

McColluch

Tempy McCullouch of Los Angeles, Calif., celebrated her 100th birthday Sept. 17, 2005, at the Embassy Suite in Los Angeles.

The celebration was hosted by her children and five generations of grandchildren. Her oldest daughter, Lady Latimer, has lived in Clovis for more than 50 years.

Tempy McCullouch was born Sept. 17, 1905, in Hugo, Okla.

Weddings

Brian Williams and Exie Price, both of Portales, were joined in marriage Sept. 22, 2005, at the home of Joe and Kay White of Clovis. The Rev. Joe White performed the marriage ceremony

The bride is the daughter of Billy D. and Joyce Price of Portales. She is the granddaughter of the late Ruth Price of Clovis.

The bridegroom is the son of Thomas and Patsy Williams of Rammstein, Germany (formerly of Cannon Air Force Base).

The couple will reside in Portales and take a delayed honeymoon to Germany in December.

The bride is employed at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales and the groom is employed at New Vision in Clovis.

Honors

Wayland Baptist president’s list

Wayland #Baptist University’s Clovis campus recently released its list of 28 student who are on the president’s list and on the dean’s list for the 2005 summer term.

Area students who achieved distinction on the president’s list are Conrad Catapia, Tamela Curry, Connie Dixon, Monica Drager, Claudia Ibanez, James Killian, Linda Masters, Donna McKenney, Annette Moralez, Stacey Peek, Noel Ramirez, Dave Richmond, Shannon Richmond, Kathy Shallenberger, Christine Sim, Edward Story and Troy Urban.

Full-time students with a 4.0 grade point average for the semester qualifies for the president’s list.

Area students who achieved the dean’s list at WBU are Maricella Chavez, Niki Johnson, Robert Maher, Adrian McDonough, Stephanie Meier, Andres Montoya, Lisa Neuman, Lashana Pace, David Rys, Travis Schuman and John Vie.

To qualify for the dean’s list, students must attend full time and have a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.

2005 Zia Classic Lamb Show

The 2005 Zia Classic Lamb Show was held during the New Mexico State Fair. The Zia Classic is an annual event held before the Junior Market Lamb Show to give young people who exhibit wool breed market lambs an additional opportunity to compete.

Local winners included DeLane Luce of De Baca County who owned the Reserve Champion Fine Wool lamb.

Laiken Crist of Curry County walked away with Champion Western White Face honors and Dusty Luce of De Baca County showed the Reserve Champion White Face lamb.
