Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
If you are in debt and are having trouble making ends meet, what do you do? Get another credit card?
How about attending a program called Financial Peace University?
FPU was founded by Dave Ramsey who was a multi-millionaire in his mid-20’s while working in the real estate business.
His dreams came crashing down when the real estate lost its value and he soon filed for bankruptcy.
He and his wife began working multiple jobs and eventually worked their way out of debt. Financial Peace University teaches financial principles that will help get you out of debt and start putting your money into savings.
The program helps individuals to know how they can have their money start working for them.
According to http://www.daveramsey.com, over 100,000 families and individuals have attended the program and on average have paid off over $5,300 in debt and saved $2,700 during the 13 week program.
In essence the program empowers and teaches families and individuals how to make the right money decisions to achieve their financial goals and experience a total money makeover.
Cannon Community Chapel is now conducting its third 13-week program.
Since the fall of 2004, 70 individuals from Cannon have either taken or are currently enrolled in the course.
As of April 2005, Cannon couples who enrolled in the fall 2004 course eliminated a total of approximately $14,600 of debt and saved approximately $5,200 among all of them.
The current course began July 25.
The next Financial Peace University course will begin Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cannon Community Chapel.
This will coincide with the Wednesday Night Connections program that is offered at the Chapel.
Beginning Sept. 7, a dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. for a donation fee.
The 13 week program and child care for toddlers and infants are provided at no cost. School age children may elect to participate in the AWANA program. AWANA is a program that teaches Scripture memorization and includes a game time.
Financial Peace University is open to couples and individuals. Each couple and individual who registers will receive a Financial Peace University kit which includes a work book, and audio CDs of the lessons.
