HOBBS — The Clovis Wildcats’ first road venture in summer league baseball wasn’t a pleasant one.
Hobbs made quick work of the short-handed Cats, run-ruling them in both ends of the West Texas Baseball League doubleheader 10-0 and 14-4.
Clovis coach Shane Leatherwood said the Cats played without several players who were nursing injuries, and made the trip with just nine players.
Hobbs broke a scoreless tie with a six-run fourth in the opener, then ended it with four runs in the fifth. The Eagles did all their damage in the first three innings of the second game.
Clovis had two hits in the opener and four in the nightcap. Sean Cruce and Parker Wood had a hit in each game for the Cats.
Clovis (5-5) returns to action with 5 p.m. home doubleheaders against Tascosa on Tuesday and Plainview on Thursday at Bell Park.
