Sara Elizabeth “Saby” Gordon Stone, 79, of Roswell, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, in Roswell.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1926, in Floyd.

She graduated from Eastern New Mexico University then moved to Dexter, where she taught for 27 years for Dexter Public Schools. She married Fred H. Stone on July 10, 1959.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Dollie J. Gordon; and a brother, Tommie Lee Gordon.

Survivors include her husband; a brother, James Grant Gordon Jr. of Portales; and by a large number of extended family members.

The Rev. Loran Turner will officiate the services.

Burial will be at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Arrangements are by Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory of Roswell.
