Pacheco

The United States Achievement Academy announced today that Isabella Pacheco of Clovis, has been recognized for academic achievement as a Untied States National Honor Roll Award winner.

Isabella Pacheco, who attends Gattis Junior High School, will appear in the Untied States Achievement Academy Official Yearbook, which is published nationally.

Isabella is the daughter of Chris and Therese Pacheo of Clovis. The grandparents are Fred and Helen Rivera of Santa Cruz and Leo And Gloria Pacheco of San Jon.

Harcrow

Karen Harcrow a fifth grade teacher at Zia Elementary, received a masters degree in education from Grand Canyon University on May 7, 2005.

The couple will exchange vows at 7 p.m. on May 21, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church. The reception will be at the State Theater. The ceremony and reception are open to friends and relatives.

Couch/Rogers

Robert and Wanda Couch of Catawba, N.C. announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Christi Couch of Clovis, to Justin Rogers of Clovis, son of Clinton Rogers of Floyd.

The couple will exchange vows at 5 p.m. on June 10, 2005, at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nev. The reception will be June 18 at the Elk Lodge in Clovis.

The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Mid-South High School who is employed at Associated Physicians and Surgeons.

The prospective groom is a 1992 graduate of Floyd High School who is employed at BNSF Railraod. Invitations have been sent.

ORGANIZATIONS

Beta Phi

Beta Phi members and guests Collene Baldwin, Laura Loflin, Gwen and Michael Williams, and Mary Ann and Bob Vinson traveled to a “Tropical Island Getaway” to attend the 58th New Mexico Epsilon Sigma Alpha state convention held in Las Cruces.

During the Friday night mixer, there was a silent auction for the state philanthropic project “cord blood” research that is being done at the Pediatric Oncology Hospital at University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

During the Saturday first general assembly it was announced the Beta Phi chapter received awards for educational book entry, Gold Link, (educational director reporting), philanthropic donations, state disaster fund donations and second place publicity. Gwen Williams was recognized as one of the New Mexico ESA Outstanding Women of the Year during the Saturday night banquet.

During the second general assembly of Sunday it was announced that both Mary Ann Vinson and Baldwin were awarded their fifth degree Pallas Athene. It was announced the next state convention will be held in Albuquerque in April 2006 and the next membership meeting will be held August 2005 in Hobbs.

Pilot Club of Clovis

The monthly business meeting of the Pilot Club of Clovis was held May 9 at the Sundance Steak House. After the invocation by Sylva Compton, President Sue Rutter called for roll and the treasurer’s report. Reports from the divisions were submitted.

President Rutter announced the garage sale will be held June 4 at 181 Sandzen Drive from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. She also mentioned that the bike fair will be held in August. Carlene McLain asked for volunteers for Meals-on-Wheels.

Election for officers for the 2005-2006 year was held. Results are Dorothy Baldock as president; Carlene McLain as president-elect; Gayle Telshaw as secretary; and Janet Barnhart as treasurer. These new officers will be installed at the June 11 business meeting.

President Sue Rutter spoke on the upcoming Pilot International convention in July 2005 in St. Louis.

During the last meeting Russell Muffley’s request for children’s DVD cassettes for the hospital was approved. Muffley had donated DVD players to the children’s ward. The Pilot Club of Clovis will help in this project.

The next meeting will be at 8:30 a.m. on June 11 at the Sundance Steak House.
