Jim Griffin, 61

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales.

Mr. Jim Griffin, 61, of Odessa, Texas, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005, in Logan.

He was born July 16, 1943, in Clovis, to Nettie Lou and Roy J. Griffin. He grew up in Portales. He married Norma Faye Luce on Aug. 11, 1959. He made his home in Portales until 1990. He worked as a mechanic for several years, was a sergeant with the Portales Police Department, undersheriff for Roosevelt County, and a Portales firefighter. In 1990 he moved to Odessa, where he was employed by Flo CO2, overseeing the transport of carbon dioxide to oil fields.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dave Griffin; and a sister, Isletta Shipp.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Griffin (and wife, Janie) of Carlsbad and Jerry Griffin (Kim) of Logan; five daughters, Katrina Prince (Kenny) of Portales, Sheila Thornton (Paul), Michelle Cheatham (Wayne), and Tracy Allen (Robert), all of Hobbs, and Sabrina Quinby (Jason) of Alamogordo; 18 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dona Hamar of Portales.

Michelle Cheatham and other family members will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. (CDT) Friday at the Flo CO2 offices, 3700 Kermit Highway, Odessa, Texas.

Pallbearers are James and Jerry Griffin, Katrina Prince, Sheila Thornton, Michelle Cheatham, Tracy Allen, and Sabrina Quinby.

Honorary pallbearers are his co-workers.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.

Eldon Miller, 81

Services: 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Cemetery in Dora.

Eldon L. “Bunk” Miller, 81, of Aztec, died Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 .

He was born on May 14, 1923, in Rogers, to Lem and Gnita Miller.

He grew up in Rogers, but he lived most of his life in the Farmington-Aztec area. He married Mary Catherine Bell on Dec. 30, 1970. He retired from San Juan Electric after many years of service as a journeyman electrician.

Family members said he enjoyed hunting, fishing, caring for his hound, Sabrina, and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, John Miller; and two sisters, Elizabeth Richards and Mildred Foster.

Survivors include a sister, Lucille Foster of Portales; two nieces, Jeanette Richards of Lubbock and Marlene Foster of Santa Fe; three nephews, Morris Foster (and wife, Dian) of Clovis, Steven Richards of Portales and Gene Richards (Nita) of Dora.

Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Dora.
