Mrs. Bobie Sanders, 72, of Port Arthur, Texas, died Friday, April 22, 2005, in Port Arthur.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1932, in Portales, to Mary and William Cole.

She grew up in Portales, and was raised by Leo and Mary Stinnett. She married Elton Sanders on April 10, 1951, in Clovis. The family lived in Lovington and California. In August of 1990, they moved back to Portales. Family members said she enjoyed doing various types of handwork, was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, and enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband.

Survivors include five sons, Elton and Steven Ray Sanders, both of Oklahoma City, Calvin Lee Sanders (and wife, Debbie) of Winnie, Texas, Michael Duane Sanders (Becky) of Rotan, Texas, and Charles Dewey Sanders (Carol) of Mineral Wells, Texas; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and six great-step-grandchildren.

The Rev. Hugh Wallis will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers are her sons.
