Feliz Salaz, 82, of Portales, died Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at her home.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1922, in Chaperito, to Juanita and Miguel Lucero.

She married Ernesto Salaz on Dec. 8, 1945, in Chaperito. They made their home in Trementina, until 1947 when they moved to Las Vegas, N.M. In 1963 they moved to Portales. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Ladies’ Auxiliary, was a Guadelupana and a communion minister. Family members say enjoyed gardening and raising beautiful flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers, Antonio and Jose Lucero.

Survivors include six sons, Antonio Salaz (and wife, Antonia), Ernesto M. and Tom Salaz, all of Portales, Bob Salaz (Pauline) of Albuquerque, Fred Salaz (Joy) of Crescent Springs, Ky. and Richard Salaz of Roswell; five daughters, Lydia Aguilar of Portales, Elena Gomez (Edmond) of Alcalde, Elizabeth McCollum of San Marcos, Texas, Gloria DeMorrow (Jerry) of Bloomfield, and Dolores Salaz Tapia of Las Cruces; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Mike Lucero of Portales, and Oraldo, Epefanio and Albert Lucero, all of Las Vegas, N.M.; and a sister, Maria Ulibarri of Albuquerque.

Father Tobin Hitt will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Chano Garcia, Michael, Zeke, Gabe, Santiago, Abraham, Jose, and Ernie Salaz, Jay McCollum, and Billy and Dino Aguilar.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
