Services: services have been held.

Mrs. Roberta Stout, 88, of Grady, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at her home.

She was born on June 2, 1926, in Clovis, to Robert and Mary Ellen Reed.

She was a member of the Broadview Church of Christ. Stout and her husband farmed and ranched all their lives and bred and raced quarter horses for 40 years. She served as 4-H leader, state director of Make-it-Yourself with Wool, and was active in the Curry County Extension Women’s Club. She and her daughters owned the Blue Room dress shop, working together for almost 20 years. She also joined a bowling league and enjoyed competing in tournaments. Family members said she was a much-loved, well-respected member in the community.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Calvin Stout; and a sister, Barbara Queener.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Gardner (and husband, Olin) of Cloudcroft and Jacqueline Davis (Kenneth) of Clovis; two grandchildren, Andrea Gardner of Norman, Okla., and Greg Gardner of Cloudcroft; a sister, Irma Chitwood of Clovis; and three brothers, Weldon and Paul Reed, both of Amarillo, and Marvin Reed of Dallas.

Otho Rogers will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Grady Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Steve Stanley, Jerry Powell, R.L. Richards, Sammy Prieto, Jim Woods and Wallace Fraser.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales.
