Margaret Cleo Shafer Purcell, 83, of Clovis, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1921, in Endee, to Willie Lea and Annie Franklin Shafer.
She was a longtime resident of Clovis. She married Raymond E. Purcell on Dec. 22, 1938, in Hereford, Texas. Family members said she loved visiting people. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five brothers, Joe, Lewis, Claiborn, Willie Lea and Height Shafer; and three sisters, Anna Mae Batson, Alice Douglas and Beulah Bell Hand.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Johnson and Ramona Brooks (and husband Oscar), all of Clovis; five grandchildren, Jeff Brooks (Stacy), T.J. Brooks, Gerry Johnson (Julia), Sharla Johnson, all of Clovis, and Jen Gutierrez (Art) of Pflugerville, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Kylee, Kabel and Kannon Brooks, Cathi and Michael Johnson, all of Clovis, and Julia Gutierrez of Pflugerville.
Jim Kelley will officiate the services.
Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
