Don Kresge, 80, of Logan died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at his home after an extended battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., to Donald W. and Rosalie (Mikolajczyk) Kresge.
He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and in Korea. He married LaNelda Dougherty in Clovis in 1955. They lived in Melrose for 35 years and Logan for more than 14 years. He farmed and ranched in Melrose and worked at Melrose Grain and Elevator for 23 years. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, Melrose Rotary Club and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Survivors include his wife, three children, Joani Scheuermann (and husband, Jeff) of Slidell, La.; Ellyn Johansen (Ken) of Durango, Colo., and Clayton Kresge of Slidell; three grandsons, Jason and Travis Johansen of Durango; Benjamin Scheuermann, of Slidell; a sister, Lucille K. Sinibaldi of State College, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Cathy Kresge and four nephews in State College, Pa.; Frances Burnett Smith, and Jack and Kay Burnett, all of Glencoe, Okla.; and numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers are Grady Bright, Gordon Morris, John Snowberger, Joe Geibel, Larry Turnbull, Sam Scott, friends, and Melrose Rotarians.
