Kathryn Burns Skarda, 89, of Clovis, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at the Retirement Ranch in Clovis.

She was born on Nov. 25, 1915, and graduated in the first class from Sacred Heart School in Clovis. She attended Mount Scholastica College in Atchison, Kan., and obtained her registered nurse certification from St. Joseph's Hospital in San Francisco, Calif. She worked as a nurse at the Baptist Hospital in Clovis and was on the opening staff of Clovis Memorial Hospital. For many years she sang in the choir and served as a member of Sacred Heart Altar Society.

Family members said she enjoyed playing golf and duplicate bridge.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Frank S. and Mary Lyons Burns of Clovis; a sister, Mary McKinney; and two brothers, James F. Burns and Thomas E. Burns.

Survivors include her husband, Lynell G. Skarda; two sons, Jeffrey J. Skarda of Houston and Gregory A.F. Skarda of Clovis; and two daughters, Dr. Patricia L. Skarda of Northhampton, Mass., and Katrina S. Green of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Father Carlos Chavez will officiate the services.

Cremation has taken place.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
