Tom Fox, 84

Mr. Tom Fox, 84, of Cleburne, Texas, died Thursday, February 3, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Graham, Okla., to Mattie and Harburn R. Fox. He attended school in Eric, Okla. He entered the U.S. Army and served in the medical corps during World War II in England, South Africa, India and the Panama Canal Zone. Upon discharge, he moved to Portales where he farmed with his father. He worked with his brother and cousin developing the “Midway.” He married Juanita Mae Davis on May 23, 1948, in Portales. They moved to Albuquerque and he went to work with the Santa Fe Railroad shop extension. In 1969, he was transferred to Cleburne where he and his family have lived since. His spent 30 years with the railroad before retiring in 1980. He was a member and deacon of the Mineral Springs Primitive Baptist Church in Glen Rose, Texas, and had served as trustee of the Duffau Association.
Family members said he enjoyed bluegrass music, traveling and camping with his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Travis and Wesley Fox.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Thomas Michael Fox (and wife, Teri Ann) of Sanger, Texas; two daughters, Deborah Ann Turner (Jeffrey) of Deer Park, Wash., and Cynthia Gail McMinn (Rocky) of Denton, Texas; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Robin and Bonny McMinn, Amanda, Heather and Eric Turner, and Corrina Clements; three great-grandchildren, Amaris Marie Turner, E.J. Sharp and Taylor Clements; three brothers, Albert Fox of Portales, Melvin Fox of Cedar Crest and Paul Fox of Prescott, Ariz; and one sister, Betty Jo Coleman of Portales.
Elder Wayne Venable will officiate the services.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Ronnie Fox, Stephen M. Fox, Irwin Coleman, Judy Hisle, Linda Webb, Phyllis Hammond, Donita Hammond and Louann Brown.
Lawanna Stroud, 63
Services: 11 a.m. (Central time) at Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery.
Lawanna Stroud, 63, died Friday, February 4, 2005, in Muleshoe, Texas.
She was born Nov. 28, 1941 in Muleshoe. She was a lifelong resident of Muleshoe. She married Ray Stroud in Muleshoe on March 31, 1979 and worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Richland Hills Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Calvin Ray and Silas D. Stroud of Clovis and Frank Stroud of Portales; four daughters, Gladys Hendrich of Fort Worth, Texas, Glenda Hyatt of Portales, Joyce Crooks of Lubbock and Carolyn Van Wettering of Portales; a sister, Brenda Marie Hill of Snyder, Texas; two nephews, Chris Lee of Snyder and Brandon Lee of Amarillo; 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Rd., Lubbock, TX 79424.
The Rev. Bennie Wright of Muleshoe will officiate.

Patrick Fred Riley, 83, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2005, in Irving, Texas.
He was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Big Springs, Texas, to Jerry Scott Sr. and Ima Orene Walker Riley. He married Jean Hancock on Jan. 31, 1953, in Weatherford, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Jerry Scott Jr. and George Tolliver Riley; and brothers-in-law, Robert Stokes and Charles T. Williams.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharron Berry (and husband, Paul) of Arlington, Texas, and Cathy Willis (Ron) of Phoenix; a son, Scott Riley (Cheryl) of Irving; a son-in-law, Jim Parker; seven grandchildren, Lauren and Jeremy Riley, Chris and Jenny Berry, and Scott, Heather, Cayce and Holly Parker; three great-grandchildren, Alana, Madison and Jack; six sisters, Nell Stokes, Eva Partin (Buck), Neva Wilhoit (Elwin), all of Portales, Merle Corbin (Clifford) and Tootsie Arnold (Tildon) of Arch, and Joy Williams of Abilene, Texas; and a brother, James Riley (Joy) of Littleton, Colo.
Visitation is from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ in Arlington.
Bobbie George, 63
Services: No services have been planned.
Mr. Bobbie D. George, 63, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at his home in Portales.
He was born Feb. 8, 1941, in Clovis to Cleo and Henry Orin George.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by an uncle, Maunay George.
Survivors include several cousins and family members.
