Mr. Eck Colson, 76, of Clovis, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at his home in Clovis.

He was born on Jan. 26, 1928, in Willie Grove, Tenn., to James and Vera Colson. He moved to Clovis from Tennessee in 1952. He married Lavern Barker on July 16, 1969, in Farwell. He worked for Rierson Pontiac and owned and operated Colson Conoco Station. He served in World War II and Korea in the United States Air Force.

Family members said he enjoyed all kinds of sports and he loved to race cars. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lisa Gant; two sons, Troy and Roy Colson; and two brothers, Junior Colson and J. B. Martin.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Rhonda Button and Karen Kay Duncan of California, and Joan Pippin of Clovis; six sons, Ray Plyler of Florida, Steve and Scott Plyler both of Clovis, Lonnie Colson of Santa Fe, Buddy Colson of Wichita, Kan., and Bruce Colson of Lubbock; a sister, Comedith Colson of Muleshoe; three brothers, Chester Colson of Bowling Green, Ky., Clark Colson of Portales, and Eldon Colson of Broken Bow, Okla .; 27 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Burial took place at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis with military honors.

Pallbearers were Kip Taylor, Matt Hanks, Michael Edmonds, Nathan Colson, Seth Colson, Cade Colson, Heath White, Sam White, and Steve Barker.

Memorial contributions may be made to Prince Street Baptist Church in Clovis.
