Mr. Howard Braxton Martin, 87, of Amarillo, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004.

He was born on March 23, 1917, in Leflore County, Okla., to William and Milia (Redwine) Martin. He married Lucy Ella Callaway on April 30, 1939 in Leflore County. They moved to Amarillo in 1943 from Wister, Okla. He retired from Santa Fe Railroad after more than 40 years of service in the water department. He was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church, and the Amarillo Senior Citizens, where family members said he loved to play pool. Family members said his great joys in life were playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, working in his yard, meeting friends at church and at the Senior Citizens Center, and reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters; and four brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Patsy Corley (and husband, Douglas) of Clovis; two grandchildren, Mandy Ratledge (Matt) of Clovis, and Braxton Corley (Lisa) of Fort Worth, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Lane Corley, Milia, Cadence, Bryahnna, Brytnee, and Brynndyn Ratledge.
