Josephine Price Cox, 88, of Clovis, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at the Retirement Ranch in Clovis.

She was born on Nov. 30, 1915, in Mangum, Okla., to R.L. and Lela Williams.

She moved to Texas with her family by covered wagon in 1922. She married Jeff Price in 1931. They moved to Clovis in 1938. She married Artie Cox in 1958. She began her career as a bookkeeper after graduating from the Benson School of Commerce. She bought the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio and built it into a successful business.

Family members said she was known as the “pink lady” because she always wore pink in her studio. She was a member of Central Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school classes. She was a charter member of the Clovis Pilot Club. Family members said she was a well-known speaker, motivator and counselor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; a brother, Leon Williams; and a sister, Pauline Williams Sasser.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Rae Snipes (and husband, Bob) of Clovis; two sons, Don Price of Albuquerque and Jim Price (Martha) of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren, Sheri Johnston (Ben) of Peoria, Ill., Sheila Cagle (Rusty) of Lubbock, Scotty Snipes (Diana) of Savannah, Ga., Stanley Price (Mary) of Albuquerque, Steve Price (Ginger) of Cloudcroft and Nathan Price (Maria) of El Paso, Texas; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Katherine and Christine Johnston, Riley and Colt Cagle, and Matthew and Molly Bly Price.

Burial will be at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
