LUBBOCK — Lubbock Christian scored the final five points to take Game 1 and Eastern New Mexico University was never a part of the match the rest of the way as the Lady Chaparrals posted a 30-26, 30-25, 30-17 victory over the Zias Tuesday night in a non-league matchup.
LCU (20-7), ranked 18th in the NAIA, erased a one-point deficit to take the first game and dominated the Zias (18-6) the rest of the way, ending ENMU’s six-match winning streak.
The Lady Chaps avenged an early-season five-game loss to ENMU in Portales. The Zias are ranked sixth in the Southwest Region of NCAA Division II.
Magan McCormick had 14 kills while Meagan Kamplain had nine kills and 20 digs for LCU. Senior outside hitter Anna Bellum had 11 kills for ENMU, but the Zias had more attack errors (32) than kills (29) for the match.
