RICHARDSON, Texas — Two-time defending champion Eastern New Mexico University has earned the top spot in the Lone Star Conference South Division men’s preseason basketball poll, released last week by the conference office.
The Greyhounds received 10 of 18 first-place votes in balloting by coaches, sports information directors and media representatives. Texas A&M-Kingsville earned seven first-place votes and came in second behind ENMU, while Angelo State picked up one first-place ballot despite being tabbed for last place.
In the women’s poll, ENMU was chosen for third place in the South behind Angelo State and defending champion West Texas A&M. ASU and WT combined for all 22 first-place ballots and were separated in the poll by just two points.
In the North Division, two-time champions Tarleton State (men) and Northeastern State (women) earned the favorite’s tags.
