Juanita Block Burroughs, 80, of Alvarado, Texas, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Alvarado Meadows Nursing Facility.

She was born on Aug. 12, 1924, in DeQueen, Ark., to Walter and Floreine Block.

She was raised in Clovis and moved to Alvarado two years ago to be close to her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Christine Waltmon and Walerine Hughes; and a brother, Dolphus Block.

Survivors include a daughter, Nita Ellingson (and husband, Mike) of Alvarado; a son, Jackie Burroughs of Las Cruces; two sisters, Pauline Smith of Tulia, Texas, and Naoma Kelm (Johnny) of Redmond, Ore.; a brother, Aultus Block (Barbara Ann) of Mableville, Ark.; two brothers-in-law, Kike Waltmon of Logan and J.C. Hughes of Tulia; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
