Clovis WR recovering from collision

Clovis High senior wide receiver Jacob Jones was recovering at home Saturday after a scary collision in Friday’s 40-0 loss to La Cueva at Leon Williams Stadium.

Jones was injured when his helmet hit the knee of a La Cueva defender while he was attempting to catch a pass over the middle. Jones, who lay motionless on the field for several minutes, was taken off on a stretcher and to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

He was released from the hospital around 1 a.m., according to his father, Larry Jones Sr.

Doctors told Jones his son likely suffered whiplash and a minor concussion.

Jacob Jones will wear a neck brace and is scheduled to visit the doctor again Monday.
