Upcoming Events

• The next School Board meeting will be Monday at 7pm.

• Please note the following change in the schedule: Parent/Teacher conferences have been changed from Friday to Thursday. Students will not come to school on Thursday. Parent/Teacher conferences will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday.

Athletics

Football: Friday, varsity at Hondo, 7 p.m.; Saturday, Junior High versus Gateway Christian at Roswell, noon.

Volleyball: Tuesday, Junior High, JV and Varsity versus Melrose at Floyd, 4 p.m.; Friday and Saturday--Roy Tournament at Roy for Varsity

Spotlight on…

Floyd has several new teachers joining the school this year. One of them is the kindergarten teacher Debi Moore. She recently moved here from San Antonio and has spent the past two years teaching and for 10 years before that she was a school librarian. She has four children and 14 grandchildren, and some of her family lives in Portales.

The Kindergarten class pet is a turtle and they have recently finished a unit on learning the seasons. They are also learning how to write letters and numbers.

Other school news…

Many improvements have been made around the school. The exterior and most of the interior have been painted. Also a new bus barn and maintenance building are under construction. The high school science room has been remodeled and the concession stand area as well.
