Frances Ussery, 69
Frances Joann Ussery, 69, of Roswell, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at her home.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1934, in Rogers, to Sybil and Pike Van Winkle.
She married John Ussery on Feb. 21, 1954. She attended school in Rogers and Portales. In 1967 they moved to Roswell, where she worked as an office manager for Northwest Mutual Life Insurance, was co-owner/operator of Fran’s Fashions and later the Mulberry Bush. She retired in 1988. She was actively involved in the First United Methodist Church in Roswell and the Alpha Phi Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Gerald and Albert Van Winkle; and a sister, Joy McGaha.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Mike Ussery (and wife, Stacey) of Austin, Texas, Brad Ussery of Albuquerque and Gerald Ussery of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four grandsons, John Ussery of Bandera, Texas, and Alex, Ben and Cal Ussery of Austin; her mother-in-law, Willie Faye McGrew of Roswell; five brothers, Wayne Van Winkle of Carlsbad, Elvis Van Winkle of Portales, Fred Van Winkle and Jim Van Winkle, both of Ruidoso, and Bill Van Winkle of Lubbock; five sisters, Wanda Hankins of Bogalusa, La., Vera Arnold of Portales, Helen Hester of Albuquerque, Voncile McGee of Elida and Janice Turner of Lovington; numerous nieces and nephews; her business partner, Rosetta Holmes; and other relatives.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Roswell. Burial will be at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.
