W.J. England, 71

Mr. W.J. “Jr.” England, 71, of Clovis, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at his home.

He was born on April 12, 1933, in Moon, Okla., to Willie R. and Vera Green England.

He married Sybil Rainey on April 30, 1955, in Clovis. He moved to Clovis from Amarillo in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for several concrete companies in Clovis. At the time of his death he was working with his son, George. Family members said he enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, shooting, gardening and ballgames. They said he made friends easily.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Dorothy Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Sybil England of Clovis; two sons, George England (and wife, Debbie) of Clovis and Ralph England (Nellie) of Portales; a daughter, Candace Gulley (Steve) of Clovis; 11 grandchildren, Sarah Procop, Michael, Randy and Bobby England, Brandi Haas, Diana Rios, Adrianna and Angelo Garcia, Steven and Laura and Stephanie Gulley; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis. The Rev. Doug Brooks will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Sunset Terrace Memorial Cemetery in Farwell.

Pallbearers are Sammy, Alex and Ernest Garcia, Lavelle Ashley, Randy Crowder and Danny Gear.

Honorary pallbearers are his friends and co-workers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Joe Arrington Cancer Center in Lubbock.

Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
