Peggy Tozer, 82
Miss Peggy Marie Tozer, 82, of Portales, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, in Amarillo.
She was born on Nov. 28, 1921, in Shell Lake, Wis., to Harold William and Lucy Ann Bohn Tozer.
She moved with her family to Turtle Lake, Wis., where she attended school. Upon graduation, she attended Eau Claire State Teachers College where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She taught English and social sciences in various high schools in the area. In 1952, she was selected to be the Public Services Librarian at Eastern New Mexico University, retiring in 1985 after 33 years of service. Family members said she enjoyed traveling and had visited many places in the U.S. and world wide. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Portales, United Methodist Women Wesleyan Service Guild and the Wesleyan Circle, Altrusa International, the Order of Eastern Star, American Library Association and the New Mexico Library Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a cousin, James Bohn.
Survivors include two cousins and their families, Lawrence Bohn and family of Manitowoc, Wis., and Jeanne Bohn and family of Leroy, Wis.
Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales. The Rev. Harry Riser will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Marvin Baugh, Vern Witten, Elton Brown, Terry Truelock, Bill Dalley and Elwyn Hulett.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
