Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities

Aug. 4 Dora/South County News

Beautiful weather is forecast for this week in the whole area. We have had some showers with thunderstorms the past few days. I don’t know if anyone got any measurable moisture or not.

Summer

The summer vacation period is about to come to a close for all local parents. Some are taking last minute trips to grandparents and friends near and far.

Baptist congregation

On Sunday Bro. “Butch” Terry Schneider came from Texas in view of a call as pastor for the Dora Baptist congregation. His wife, Elaine, and sons were our guests also. He gave the sermon at both the morning and evening services. The church voted after the evening services to extend him a call as our pastor. He accepted the call and will be moving here soon. Bro. Butch and Elaine have one son still living at home. They have twin sons who work as cowboys in the Fort Sumner area. They came for Sunday also. The church and several guests enjoyed a luncheon together following the morning worship.

We welcome the family to Dora.

South Texas Visitors

Chip and Mendi Thompson of Crystal City, Texas are here visiting her parents, Linda and Larry Bittick and other relatives this week. They met Trate here to take him home after spending some time visiting his Beever relatives in Clovis. We have all enjoyed having them and the green enchilada birthday supper Tiffanie prepared for Mendi and her dad, Larry.

Prayer Concerns

Our nation and all national leaders, for God to lead in every decision according to His will. For all our troops wherever they serve. For all our troops wherever they serve. For all who work in other nations helping to reconstruct area or do needed repairs also. For our sick and aged citizens. Nancy Tivis is better again. Donna Wilcher to recover quickly. Kristi Ledbetter for her upcoming kidney transplant. Every need of our friends and loved ones who are ailing at this time.

Thank God for dirty dishes, they have a tale to tell — while other folks are hungry we are doing very well.
