Cab driver remains in critical condition

A Clovis cab driver injured in a July 17 crash is still in critical condition in a Lubbock hospital, a family member said on Monday.

Christian Heller Jr, 24, is at the surgical intensive care unit of Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. The victim’s father, Christian Heller Sr., said vie e-mail his son has stabilized well, is awake, and is able to write questions.

Family members have established a bank account to help cover medical expenses. Those interested in making donations may do so through Wells Fargo Bank, mentioning that the account is established in Heller’s name with an account number ending in 44034.

The family also plans to hold a yard sale this weekend.

Court records show Tim Walton, 44, has been charged with great bodily injury by vehicle and faces a preliminary examination Thursday morning in Curry County Magistrate Court on the charge.
