Thelma Anderson, 89, of Roswell, died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at Rio Rancho Nursing Home in Rio Rancho.

She was born on Aug. 3, 1914, in Comanche, Texas, to George C. and Elizabeth C. Gleaton Anderson.

She attended school in Littlefield, Texas, and graduated in 1933. She made her home in Roswell for over 40 years where she worked as a cosmetician at Platt Drug.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, L.G. Sinclair; and two brothers, M.J. and Carl Anderson.

Survivors include a son, Dan Smith (and wife, Jeanette) of Rio Rancho; two brothers, Joe Anderson of Fort Sumner and George Douglas Anderson of Gaston, Ind.; eight sisters, Eva Teal of Odessa, Texas, Jewel Sasser of Clovis, Mae Del Hodge, Dorothy Neuman, Frances Nahlovsky and Blanche Boyd, all of Fort Sumner, Fern Hay of Milnesand and Wanda Mechnig of Roswell; five grandchildren, Mary Beth Weeks (Jake) and Paul, Ben, Sarah and Rebecca Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Dan Smith will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.

Pallbearers are her grandsons and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.
