Opal Manis, 91

Opal Turner Manis, 91, Aurora, Mo., did, Monday, June 28, 2004, at St. John’s Hospital in Aurora, Mo.

She was born on Sept. 2, 1912, in Texico, to David and Cora Bruce Turner.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Aurora, Mo. She played the piano for many years at the Elm Branch Christian Church, as well as other churches earlier in her life. She played guitar and sang at events while at the Ozarks Methodist Manor. She was active in 4-H while her chidren were in school. She married Loid A. Manis on June 5, 1932.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five brothers, Taft, Hubert Memory, David, Elbert and Joe Turner; two sisters, Jewell Sims and flora Norris; a son, David Allen Manis; three daughters, Nile Brooks, Donna Lurvey and Alpha Manis.

Survivors include two sons, Dane Manis (and wife, Sherry) of Lenexa, Kan., and Gerald Manis of Moab, Utah; a daughter, Leah Arnhart of Shawnees, Kan; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. (CDT) today at the Cafton-Cantrell Funeral Chapel in Aurura, Mo. The Rev. Ed Meimeyer will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Marionville I.O.O.F Cemetery in Aurora, Mo.

Arrangements are by Cafton-Cantrell Funeral Home of Aurora, Mo.
