Mrs. Dixie May “Diane” Rondell, 83, of Texico, died June 4, 2004, at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis.

She was born July 14, 1920, in Rifle, Colo., to Richard and Maudie Pigg Carlisle.

Her parents moved to Safford, Ariz., when she was 9 years old. She married Leland Rondell on July 23, 1943, in Riverside, Calif. She moved to Texico in 2001. She worked as an escrow officer for Arizona Title Company. She was member of First Baptist Church in Texico.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Helen Carlisle; and two infant children.

Survivors include cousins, Dee and Jimmie Rhoads, Billie and Bill Clanton and Mona Bethnay, all of Midland, Texas, W.G. Swaim of Lovington, Dave Swaim of Salida, Colo., Donald Swaim of Portales, Mary and George Hill of Texico, Pearlia and Delbert Tivis of Clovis, Goldie and Troy Wall of Lubbock, Marvin Eminger of Cashion, Okla., James W. Carlisle of Commerce City, Colo., Clara Hughes of Plainview, Texas, Glenda Bell of Rose, Okla., Betty Chambers of Portales, John R. Carlisle of Cashion, Okla., Martha Robbins of Azaela, Ore., Mary Jean Hayhurst of Amarillo, L.D. Burrows Jr. and Edwin Burrows, both of Portales, and Gale Hellums of Watkinsville, Ga.; “Special Grandmother” to Duwain and Rhonda Hill of Texico, Jo Beth and Steve Fletcher of Albuquerque, Drew and Jennifer Sours of Amarillo, and Jaynee and Marcus Weems of Lovington, and “Grandma Dixie” to Jonathan and Jarron Hill, Brayden Fletcher, Devanne and Saylor Sours and Chasity, Dylan and Cotty Weems; and special friend to Mike and Judy Crever and Bill and Susan Dimpfel and Joan Miller.

Burial will be at Safford-Union Cemetery in Safford.

The Rev. Rob Hollis officiated the services.

Arrangements were by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis.
