Tina Geries Dorwald, 43, of Elmendorf, Texas, a social worker, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at Muleshoe Area Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 18, 1961, in Dallas, Texas, to Herman and Alta Norton Geries.

She graduated from Texico High School in 1979 and Western Illinois University in 1994 with a BS in social work.

She married James Dorwald on June 11, 1997, in San Antonio, Texas. She worked for the Salvation Army for several years as a social worker and had also worked in several nursing homes as a social worker. She was a member of Eppworth United Methodist Church in San Antonio.

Survivors include her husband James of the home in Elmendorf; her parents, Herman and Alta Geries of Farwell; a brother, Todd Geries (wife Phyllis) of Houston; grandmothers, Frances Norton and Perlie Geries, both of Farwell; two nieces, Amy Buehler (Brad) of Houston and Sara Spickard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a grand-nephew, Grayson Buehler; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; mother-in-law, Shirley Dorwald of Rochester, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Judy Evans (Larry) of Columbus, Ohio.

The Rev. Gene Hawkins will officiate at the service.

The family will be at 905 Fifth Street in Farwell.

Her body was donated to Texas Tech School of Medicine.

Memorial contributions may be made to any rape crisis center.

Arrangements were under the direction of Steed-Todd Funeral Home, 800 E. Manana in Clovis.
