Darrell F. “D’Daddy” Norton, 70, of Pampa, Texas, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at his home.

He was born June 20, 1933, in Farwell, to Lester and LaVysa Frances Sheets Norton.

He served in the Air Force in the Korean War as a crew chief on B-47s and B-52s. He married Bernice Christian on Sept. 6, 1953, in Oklahoma Lane. He was a farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church in Farwell and the Jaycees. Family members said he loved his grandchildren, fishing, stock shows and car racing on TV.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jimmy Norton; a nephew, “Little” Jim Norton; and a daughter, Leslie Norton Lunsford.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; a son, Ray Norton (and wife, Becky) of White Deer, Texas; a daughter, Lori Hartley (Tom) of Texico; three brothers, Gerald Norton (Anne) and David Norton (Pam), all of Farwell and Charles Wade Norton (Lisa) of Artesia; two sisters, Alta Geries (Herman) of Farwell and Wilma Jamison (Leon) of Marble Falls, Texas; and six grandchildren, Stephanie Collins (Casey), Jennifer Smith (Blake), Byron Norton, Landon Lunsford (Summer), Mark Lunsford (Joi) and Marni Lunsford.

The Rev. Gene Hawkins and the Rev. J.L. Bass will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Sunset Terrace in Farwell.

Pallbearers are Pike Jordan, Charlie Phillips, Roy Snodgrass, Charlie Petty, Delbert Garner, Harry Sheets, Charlie and Troy Christian, Doyle Ford, Don Williams, Miles O’Loughlin, Teddy Hartley and Ross Hinton.

The family will be at the Hartley barn.
