Volunteer of the Day — Gena Hankins

Curry County Volunteer Coalition is selecting a “Volunteer of the Day” throughout April. Today’s honoree:

In 2003, Gena Hankins donated many hours with the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). She is an active member of the LEPC Community Awareness committee, assists in the planning and organization of activities to ensure the public is prepared and aware of emergency management issues on our community.

Ken De Los Santos, emergency management director in Clovis/Curry County writes, “She is very energetic and highly motivated. She gets everyone excited about serving and reaching the public with vital information.”

When asked why she volunteers, Hankins replies, “I love Clovis and am proud to live here. I volunteer because I believe in giving back to my community. There’s a sense of pride that comes with knowing that I am contributing to making Clovis a safer place to live.”
