Mr. Leonard Coffey, 82, of Clovis, died Monday, April 5, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born on March 30, 1922, in Rawls, Texas, to Lonnie and Claire Griffin Coffey.

He married Thelma Skeen on July 3, 1943, in Clovis. He was a member and a deacon at Central Baptist Church. He owned and operated City Body Shop in Friona for 45 years until he retired and moved to Clovis in 1993. Family members said he was a precious husband and the sweetest father who was dedicated to his children and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Verlin Coffey; a sister, Ruby Billings; and a grandson, John Taylor.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Carol Taylor (and husband, Bill) of Beaumont, Texas, Kaye McGee (Ed) of Claud, Texas, Becky Weatherly (Bill) of Lubbock and Kellianne Harper (Charles) of Arlington, Texas; four brothers, Leroy Coffey of Melrose, Leon Coffey and O.B. Coffey, both of Logan and Herman Coffey of Belen; three sisters, Ollie Mae Henry of Big Spring, Texas, Louise Heddins of Gruver, Texas, and Wanda Jean Richardson of Logan; grandchildren, Ben and Mary Frances Weatherly, Brooke Weatherly, Beth and Jacob Lopez, Heather Taylor, Hali McGee, Taylor McIntire, Samantha Harper and Maricruz Cole; and a great-grandchild, Bailey Willbanks.

The Rev. Joseph Vest and the Rev. Mike Eberhardt will officiate the services.

Burial will be at Melrose Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home in Portales.
