WOLFFORTH, Texas — Robert Riggins put together another strong outing and received plenty of support at the plate as Clovis beat Frenship, Texas, 10-3 on Thursday for its third-straight win.
Riggins allowed four hits and two runs in six innings while improving to 3-0 on the season. He struck out five and walked none.
“He really had a good solid outing until the bottom of the fifth,” Clovis coach Shane Shallenberger said. “He was in the strike zone all game and kept them off balance.”
Senior shortstop Jason Seefeld was one of four Wildcats with three hits, including a pair of triples, as Clovis finished with 16 hits off four Frenship pitchers. Junior outfield John Props went 3-for-3 with a double and a triple while senior Mark Young and sophomore Sean Cruce also collected three hits.
“The bottom part of the lineup came alive and that was good to see,” Shallenberger said.
The Wildcats (6-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings. Luke Gray delivered a two-run double in a four-run first and Seefeld tripled and scored in the second.
Riggins left after six innings with a 10-2 lead, with Seefeld pitching the seventh.
