Alice Ann Gonzales Keever, 74, of Fort Sumner, died Monday, March 15, 2004, at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque.

She was born on May 21, 1929, in Hooker, Okla., to Elias and Petra Valdez Gonzales.

Her family moved to Los Ojitos, north of Fort Sumner, when she was a child. She attended school at Fort Sumner. She was a homemaker, a loving mother and grandmother. Family members said she enjoyed preparing holiday meals, family gatherings in her home, fishing, crocheting and embroidering. She was a member of The Church On the Hill in Fort Sumner since 1978.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art Keever; three brothers, Brijido, Johnny and Elias Gonzales Jr.

Survivors include four daughters, Donna Morgan (and husband, Charles) and Mary Montano (Kenneth), all of Vaughn and Miquela Jones (Roger) and Georgia Keever (David Vansickel), all of Fort Sumner; six sons, Jose Aragon of Phoenix, Richard Aragon of Santa Rosa, Nick Aragon of Albuquerque, Bobby Aragon (Ramona) of Las Vegas, Jimmy Aragon (Sue) of Amarillo and J.B. Aragon (Marie) of Fort Sumner; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Parker, Rose Hunter and Cecilia Luttrall, all of Amarillo; and two brothers, Paul Gonzales and Benjamin Gonzales, both of Fort Sumner.

Anna Teeter and Charles Morgan will officiate the services.

Pallbearers are her grandchildren.

Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner.
